Classes to help a lifetime’s worth of health issues

CentraState Healthcare System is offering a variety of community classes, support groups and events sponsored by their Health Awareness Center during the month of August.

Among the Center’s offerings are pre-birth classes for expectant mothers, nutrition classes for children and families, tours of their Sleep Disorder Facility, and Senior Games for active senior citizens. The Center also offers special programming for children and teens, including a babysitting clinic, a luau-themed cooking club, a class for soon-to-be siblings, and a “Girls 4 Real” class for girls in grades 5-8 and their moms. Classes require pre-registration, and pricing for programs varies.

On-site support groups sponsored by the Center include those for people diagnosed with Breast Cancer, Leukemia and Lymphoma, and Fibromyalgia, along with groups for the caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients. Prevention screenings and lectures focusing on diabetes, blood pressure, and illegal drug use will also be offered by the Center’s medical professionals.

Pre-registration is required for most of the Center’s offerings. For a complete list of classes, groups, and events running during August, visit CentraState’s website.
