Freehold Regional Ok’s Random Drug Testing
With little fanfare, the Freehold Regional High School District's board of education approved random drug testing for students Monday night.
The program will apply to students who hold permits to park on school grounds, or who are involved in extracurriculars like sports, clubs and bands. Students can also voluntarily opt into the program with parental consent.
Students will not be suspended or expelled solely because of a positive test result. They can face sanctions, however, including loss of parking and activity privileges, according to district documents.
Students who test positive would also have to meet with a student assistance counselor and, if they fail more than one drug test, would have to undergo a substance abuse evaluation.

Again Ill say, waste of money, invasion of privacy, age discrimination, more big bro, and less responsiblity for parents!!! Pretty soon everyone will be exactly the same and walk around like robots….

Absurd. I wonder how many of the teachers would pass the test. BTW these test are not infallable, false positives are rare but they happen. It just happened to me several months ago. I came up positive for 2 drugs that I haven’t taken in over 20 years. I’d like to see the people who are for these tests take one. Then see what their opinion is.

I hope your English teachers were not on drugs while you were learning proper spelling, grammar, etc. When you grow up a little, you will realize that there are many rules adults have to live by and mandatory drug testing for many jobs is one of them. Sure, blame parents for kids’ outrageous and spoiled behavior, but teenagers also should have the knowledge and self-respect to not get drunk or high. If you think this is punishment you are in for a rude awakening when you grow up.

“Sure, blame parents for kids’ outrageous and spoiled behavior, but teenagers also should have the knowledge and self-respect to not get drunk or high.”
Knowledge of what? That it might be bad for them? What fucking world are you living in it? Where does self-respect come into this? Is it so hard for idiots like you to realize that maybe everyone does share the same views as you? I say let the kids do what they want. If they want to get drunk or high, that is their choice. Let the parents deal with it. The schools should have no say in what students do in their free time.

drug testing is abolutely insane and the school has no right to test students at random. If youre gonna do random testing, then test the whole school- freshman through seniors, those with privileges like sports and parking passes and those without. More people who are not involved in activities take drugs than those who are involved in activites. Students who partake in sports dont have the time to do drugs, and they wouldnt be able to run or do whatever they do if they wer on drugs because it would make them perform bad. Most likely, the kids who arent doing anything with their lives are going to be the ones who do drugs. This policy is completely unfair and totally prejudiced towards a certain group of people. If kids want to do drugs then it’s their choice. Last time i checked, alcohol isn’t illegal. If someone underage somehow attains it, it’s not up to the school to figure that out. The same goes for other drugs. It’s up to the parents to guide their children, not the school. And for all those who condone this, your opinion can’t be based off of any real arguement because everything you say can easily be refuted. There is no rational reason for doing this, except to look good in the eye of the public. It’s not like drug use has gotten any worse that this has to be implemented. 20 years ago, just as many people were doing drugs,it just wasn’t made into this huge deal. As long as their drug use isnt effecting the school directly, then there isn’t any problem.
