County’s Next H1N1 Vaccine Clinic is Nov. 6
Amid growing pressure to release more H1N1 vaccine before the flu season gets underway, the Monmouth County Health Department will hold an appointment-only vaccine clinic for high-risk individuals on November 6 at its headquarters in Freehold Township.
The Health Department will take appointments to vaccinate pregnant women, people who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age, children 6 months through 4 years of age, children 5-24 years who have chronic medical conditions or weakened immune systems, and emergency medical personnel.
The County's vaccination efforts began in late October, when they received their first shipment of H1N1 vaccine, according to the County website. They have held four clinics at schools around the county since October 20 for high-risk individuals; this it the first appointment-only clinic.
The Monmouth County Health Department is expecting a shipment of 17,000 vaccinations in the coming days or weeks, which will allow them to expand their vaccinations to school districts. Once the school districts and other high-risk patients are vaccinated, the County will make further shipments available to the 25-60 and over-60 age groups, according to the MCHD.
Private medical offices were also able to sign up to receive H1N1 vaccine.
Appointments are available from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. Appointments must be made in advance by calling the MCHD at 732-431-7456. An appointment must be made for each person interested in receiving the vaccine.
