Newman: Proposed Bicycle Ordinance
Councilman-elect John Newman just emailed us a copy of the proposed bicycle ordinance in its entirety, which we post here so Freehold residents can take a look at the actual proposal before the public hearing and Council vote on December 21.
The document recognizes "competing interests" between safety and convenience in the Downtown area, and the need for the ordinance to protect the Borough from property damage and personal injury claims.
Thanks, Mr. Newman.

Another racist ordinance from Freehold Borough. Freehold has no bus service except the 833 from downtown to the mall. Furthermore, the 833 has no bike racks.
In the law, bicycles are equal to cars on the road. Now, let’s compare how much money Freehold Borough spends to accommodate cars versus how much it spends to accommodate non-polluting bikes.
Cars poison the air. Bikes don’t. So, let’s clamp down on bikes and call them eyesores and “hazards” while cars that kill and poison people are coddled.

Joshua, I think your way off base. There are 3 bike racks in that immediate area, 2 at the bus station and 1 by the church and St Peters. Is it too much to ask you bike riders to use what the town has provided for you? Where in that ordinace is racism? All people own bikes? Seems like your making an issue because the Boro is making people use racks provided for them, how dare the Boro? And your pollution argument is just ignorant, there not banning bikes, there asking you to store them where they belong. Imagine that, a town asking you to use a rack, how racist, how out of this world! PLEASE!!

…another person throwing around the word racist…than follow it up by pretending to care about the enviroment…LOL In case you havent seen the latest..MAN MADE GLOBAL WARMING is a lie, based on manipulated data…Plants need CO2 to live and grow…Humans breathe CO2 everytime we exhale…so maybe Humans should stop breathing …..for earths sake.

Joshua, “racist?” What exactly does that mean? That’s not a throwaway adjective. Why did you use that word?
