I hope the only route to be considered is the north-south route, the Freehold-Matawan route. A route that goes any other direction will not have sufficient ridership

    • john 9:56 pm on September 1, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Mark, that is not correct. The Matawan would not have as many daily riders as the Jamesburg route. The Red Bank will have the least amount of daily riders.

We also need to stop witht he bilingual phone messages and signs. Its America..English spoken here ..learn it. Az has the right Idea and all states should take up the cause to drive the illegals out of the country. No Amnisty.

        Bill,
I think you need to think about what this country is based on and that is immigrants. The great majority of which came here illegally. The fact lies in that Americans are lazy I work with some of the most hardworking people I have ever met and you know what? they’re immigrants who had to work for countless hours and years to get citizenship for themselves and their families. Im sick and tired of people complaining that “theres no jobs out there” where I work we’ve had job openings for years and years but who applies not adults instead teenagers and legal US citizens because the lazy people would rather stay at home, complain about not having a job and collect unemployment. Its the sad truth we, as a people, are lazy. Maybe if we reform the way that the naturalization process is done more people would not come here illegally. As for the language topic, how would you like it if when you went to a foreign country they told you the same thing “Japanese-Learn it” “Arabic-Learn it”. People fly off the handle as soon as they go into any restaurant and hear someone speak Spanish but if they go into the Chinese restaurant and they’re speaking Chinese thats perfectly okay with everyone they same thing with Italian restaurants etc. because people think “its really authentic”. People would get more mad at those who speak Spanish and that are here illegally than those who speak a different language (ie. Chinese, Italian etc. ) and are here illegally too. People just do not understand how hard it is to become a naturalized US citizen in todays world. America is a melting pot of cultures and ideas and I think we all need to step back and realize that

In tis particular case, I fully agree with the demonstrators. This is America and when we incarcerate people, we do so in the most humane manner. Border security and deportation are completely different matters.

America must secure its borders and reform it’s immigration system – AND THEN ENFORCE IT’s LAWS. Even then, those placed in our jails and detained – FOR ANY REASON – must be treated with dignity and humanity. Anyone who doesn’t agree needs to to rent a copy of the film “Midnight Express” to see why America must continue to take the high road in its treatment of those jailed in OUR COUNTRY.

  • Freehold Dispatch Bond up for Vote

by Colleen Curry on May 3rd, 2010 | Comment

The Borough Council is expected to vote today on a bond ordinance that would help pay for the transition to county fire dispatching services.

The ordinance calls for the appropriation of $250,000, which includes authorization to issue $237,500 in bonds or notes.

The money would pay for several Fire Department purchases that have been deemed necessary for the handover of fire dispatching services from the borough to the county, which is set to occur in July.

    The purchases include:

Security upgrades, smoke alarms and a new telephone system for the borough firehouse.

    An automatic fuel-dispensing system.

Mobile data terminals for two fire chief vehicles.

Pagers that can receive the county dispatch radio frequency.

The security changes are needed because once the switch occurs, the firehouse will be vacant at times. Dispatchers are currently stationed in the firehouse around the clock.

Dispatchers also currently pump fuel for borough vehicles. The automatic fuel-dispensing system will take over that duty, Borough Administrator Joseph Bellina said.

Borough officials also plan to use the appropriated funds to replace the deputy chief's vehicle, which Bellina said is 10 years old.

The ordinance vote is set to be held during the Borough Council's meeting, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. this evening at Borough Hall, 51 W. Main St. A public hearing will be held before the vote.
